kde4 desktop widgets position

Hi, having added some widgets to a Jaunty KDE4 desktop, I'm attempting 
to move them to a sensible area on the screen - and actually be able to 
view them without one covering another.  I have selected "unlock 
widgets" and drag one to a new location, however within a few seconds 
they move themselves somewhere else, either to fit in next to another 
widget, or back to the top left corner with 3 others.  Potentially I can 
create an extremely cool desktop with some fairly useful widgets, does 
anyone know what I need to do to get them to stay where I want?  Can't 
for the life of me figure out what/where/how to make this work!
