Hey! this is *nix you are talking about. Of course it can be done.
You'll be wanting to read the '-R' section of the ssh man page.
Something along the lines of (as root)
ssh -R 81:127.0.0.1:80 examplesite.com
Oh and that other problem you were having with too many open
conenctions.. sshfs.
