I run Conky on my desktop. It gives you a place to put nearly any type of information you want. Mainly used as a very light weight system resource monitor.

There is a good thread here: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic/59/my-conky-config/ that has lots of examples.

Although I have not tried it myself: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=86658 suggests how to do a MOTD or any other random type information.

Peter.

Hi,

Anyone have any thoughts on how I might implement a GUI message-of-the-day.

This is for a SOHO situation where information needs to be presented to the user after logging on every-time?

My Google-fu is at an all time low, either that or I'm falling asleep at this keyboard.

TIA

Andrew
