Yes, that's the db. At this point OOo doesn't have a db - it's one of those things that was left out according to the OOo notes. I believe it's because it's third party. I don't remember a browser in SO but I remember mail. For Windows that was useful because SO mail was so much better than Outlook. For Linux the mail isn't a big issue since we have decent clients.
