I compiled from source (./configure,make,make install) and it worked
using startx fluxbox. I had to fight to figure out how to add it to my
graphic login, but got it there.
There is a directory in your home called .fluxbox which has a file
called menu. You can add stuff there. It's a text file and it's very
self explanatory. I added kylix and openoffice easily. Here is the
beginning of the file. The <***'d lines I added. Theer is a config
utility available on the web site.
[begin] (Fluxbox 0.1.7)
[exec] (xterm) {xterm -fg white -bg black}
[exec] (nedit) {nedit}
[exec] (Kylix2) {startkylix} <*********
[exec] (OpenOffice) {openoffice} <*********
[submenu] (Browsers)
[exec] (netscape) {netscape}
[exec] (opera) {opera}
[exec] (galeon) {galeon}
[exec] (mozilla) {mozilla}
[exec] (konqueror) {konqueror}
I agree, it's no substitute for xfce. I'd be more inclined toward
IceWM.
