I have not used Montia Vista's patch, but I run a kernel everyday that is fully preemptible and consistently enjoy a snappier system under load. However, kernel preemption is more about having things happen on time than it is having things happen quickly -- or at least this is my understanding. It remains to be seen whether or not desktop usage can be improved dramatically by running a near real-time kernel. Kurt -- Loan-department manager: "There isn't any fine print.
