I've just about given up on Mandrake and its bastardized offerings. As root I've gotten everything to work (with the help of list members, thank you) but as a mere mortal, not so. of all things mozilla will not run as a user, netscape 6 will not run as a user. I keep getting:
** ERROR **: First `engine` section must include a `stock` section. Aborting... Aborted I get the same message from Netscape 6 as well as Mozilla. On the another box (wife's), I have Workstation 3.1.1 and it has Netscape 6 and Mozilla and it works just great. The box (son's) running SuSe 7.3 has netscape 6 and Mozilla and it works just great. I've maintained these computers since COL 1.1, this is the first time I've encountered a browser not working for a user. Netscape 4.x woks ok on the mandrake box but I want to run mozilla. I noticed that I can not run the gnome terminal as user and that sure is strange. It works great as root. Mandrake the Microsoft of the Linux comunity. I've ordered a new Matrox vidio card for this box and since I have all source packages sitting on its own drive I'll backup all the files I need and send Mandrake to /dev/null. Workstation 3.1.1 may have older libs etc, but at least everything works. -- Ted Ozolins (VE7TVO) Westbank, B.
