A sirocco is a hot desert (dry) wind.  Feels like what you get when you
open an oven door when it's been turned on high for a while. 

While air conditioning is an option, it's a limited one.  Panama has the
highest electric rate in the world.  The electric bill is no fun at all
with the AC turned on all the time.
