What I have been doing was swapping the cable, and selecting the proper 
printer, which I had set up previously.  Then, I would have to restart 
KDE, or manually stop and start lpd.

Hey, kind'a answered my own question there, didn't I?  (Blush..   Dang 
'70s anyhow.  Sure could use that lost grey matter!)    :-)
