Somehow or other, all user files/directories changed from user name to number. edj:users, e.g., now reads 500:users, not only in HOME but also in /tmp. Some configuration file got foobarred, but I don't know which. Also, is /tmp supposed to be drwxrwxrwt ? I changed the 500's in home/edj to edj, but they all changed back. Any advice appreciated. Thanks a lot.
