thanks for the tips, I did check out the Compaq site, guess this server is really old. 
At Compaq they did have pdf versions of the manuals for the server. Found the 
maintenance section and the instructions worked like a dream. The RAM in this box is 
EDO SIMMS, has a Conner harddrive, and some kind of a riser board that plugs into the 
main motherboard. On that board are two socket 5 slots for CPUs. In this box there is 
one Pentium CPU (133). Adaptec SCSI. Lots of room inside. So I'm going to clean it up 
(lots of dust) and try to find some old parts to beef it up a bit ( more RAM, bigger 
harddrive, maybe another CPU if I can find one) and then install some incantation of 
Linux or BSD. Haven't tried BSD yet.
