I just thought I would feed back about my laser printer choice: I decided on a Samsung ML1210 and it is working well.
Of course it was easy to set up in Windoze, but what was even more amazing is it took less time to set up in Caldera 3.1 then Windoze. All I needed to do was install the ppd file from the disk and it printed right away. Getting it to work under my Linux From Scratch system was more difficult but ultimately I was able to do this.
