I had done this previously, but there was nothing wrong with it. However I also renamed the above to menu.lst.old and rebooted; it came up fine when it should have failed. So I took out /boot from /etc/fstab and it failed this time. So as there was obviously a real problem with boot I did a backup and re-install. I now have the ability once again to boot with different kernels. I have no idea what was wrong but there was a problem with /boot in that it saw the original installed kernel and that was it. Thanks for the query and help, to all. -- Keith Antoine (GANDALF) aka 'skippy' 18 Arkana St, The Gap, Queensland 4061 Australia PH:61733002161 Retired Geriatric, Sometime Electronics Engineer, Knowall, Brain in storage _______________________________________________ Linux-users mailing list - http://linux-sxs.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-users Subscribe/Unsubscribe info, Archives, and Digests are located at the above URL.
