I wouldn't hold your breath.  Only one developer is working this. 
Olivier and the rest of the xfce team are feverishly working on
xfce/xfwm4 for  GTK+ 2.0.  Just put up the CVS version and don't worry
- it's rock solid.

Great minds run on the same track, but ... traffic on the xfce list is
running 2-1 in favor of "who needs this crap, anyway?"  Go figure. 
Xfce afficionados tend to be died-in-the-wool minimalists, and this
isn't quite minimal enough!

I'm just starting to experiment with getting the taskbar running by
itself without the xfce main panel.  Will keep you posted when I get
the right parameters.
