BTW my reader is an ACOMDATA multi car unit. it does MMC/SD/SM/CF/MS 
in 4 different slots.
Thje USB module recognizes a device but nothing appears in
/proc/bus/usb the directory stays empty.  And of course usb-storage
just hangs the whole yste, forcing a hard reset.
