THis has come up and I don't think that any answer give was quite this
simple.  "tr" was mentioned, as was how to get a "^M", but this one is
better, since it joins them both and includes a tidbit I didn't know.

GETTING RID OF ^M

How to get rid of ^M
in text files .

tr -d '^M' <inputfile >outputfile

But how to get this
'^M' in the command
line:

Keep CTRL pressed
and then press v and m
