it's a 40 gigger. no idea what fdisk has to say (well, i do -- it's going to say nothing about partitions because the drive has never been partitioned), because the install doesn't get that far. i'm trying to oversee the install by remote control -- my sister's 1,000 miles away. the drive is the new 7200 rpm, ata-6 thing, and apparently their iteration of ata-6 leaves something to be desired. i'm half of a mind to send her out to get a plain old ide cable, which pretty much disables the ata-133 stuff; the machine has an award bios, and i'm unaccustomed to those (i think; i've used one or two, but i don't know 'em well enough to get a good mental picture), so i don't know if there's a way to force something a little less ambitious. -- dep http://www.linuxandmain.com -- outside the box, barely within the envelope, and no animated paperclip anywhere. _______________________________________________ Linux-users mailing list - http://linux-sxs.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-users Subscribe/Unsubscribe info, Archives, and Digests are located at the above URL.
