Previous releases of Red Hat, Mandrake, and SuSE had problems building both the HDF 4 and HDF 5 data file libraries we use at JPL for satellite image processing and storage. Both those libraries and the attendant utilites built and tested correctly under 8.0. The Abiword fonts are all monospaced, and I've not yet managed to correct that, however. OpenOffice works quite nicely. The MP3 issue is going to get a lot of attention (relates to legal issues with potential to cost any company that the morons things they might squeeze some cash out of). The "compromise" desktop that is installed by default will annoy both the devoute KDE _AND_ Gnome users, but it appears relatively straight-forward to remove if you must. Personally, I just install XFCE and avoid the whole issue. 8^) rickf _______________________________________________ Linux-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe/Suspend/Etc -> http://www.linux-sxs.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-users
