I think "no interest whatsoever in the desktop" is a bit strong, but I'll grant you 
that they weren't interested in the Desktop for the initial release of UL. Of course, 
you can remember it however you like, but as I recall, the message was that they had 
no plans at the time for a UL Desktop, that they were concentrating on the server 
first and would leave it up to the member distros to make their own desktop versions. 
Those desktop versions could be based on UL, but they were not authorizing the use of 
"Powered by UnitedLinux" for them. That appears to be changing. I think it's a Good 
Thing (TM).

But, whatever. This is linux, use what you like :-)
