I would be torn as to which to offer. I am a die-hard GroupWise fan. It is relatively secure (ok, for a big install, I'd certainly front-end it with Sendmail, but that's normal), it has a decent client, it's NDS-based, and it has good scheduling features. The only thing I have against it is that it doesn't run on Linux (Client or Server) that I'm aware of. The only thing I've ever really had go wrong is when I scheduled the backups and the indexing at the same time and got a bit of corruption (oops).
Then again, there ain't nothing like a good Linux box to put your email in clear-text files, with the abilities of fetch- proc- and formail at your fingertips. TIP: if you DO continue running GroupWise, be sure it's MTA is NOT directly available to the Internet. In order to allow the SMTP features to work properly, GroupWise only allows you to limit Relaying based on From: address.... This is easily spoofed and can potentially get you blacklisted quickly. You probably already knew this but I wanted to share the experience :) On Wed, 2 Oct 2002 23:11:56 -0400 Douglas J Hunley <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- > Hash: SHA1 > > Jesús Antonio Santos Giraldo spewed electrons into the ether that > resembled: > > I use groupwise... > > > > If I may ask... why are you thinking in replacing? > > we're not necessarily. we're 're-evaluating the field'.. hence, I need > to know about all the competitors > - -- > Douglas J Hunley (doug at hunley.homeip.net) - Linux User #174778 > Admin: Linux StepByStep - http://www.linux-sxs.org > and http://jobs.linux-sxs.org > > OK genius.. what's the speed of dark?!? > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- > Version: GnuPG v1.2.0 (GNU/Linux) > > iD8DBQE9m7V8SrrWWknCnMIRAuLtAJ44p10/S0W11BRS8/suSfXIdP3BegCeJ3gO > mfRlO62p8p10pA7wM6UAfWQ= > =O9VK > -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- > > > _______________________________________________ > Linux-users mailing list > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Unsubscribe/Suspend/Etc -> > http://www.linux-sxs.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-users
