I am truly puzzled by this.  I enjoyed the convenience of having my 
"user" account (I back up my production files) for playing around and 
trying things in, knowing I wouldn't destroy the entire distribution if 
I did so.  In fact, I even have a couple of "fake" users for some 
particular ways of experimenting.  I find the security features freeing 
rather than restricting.  I mean, how hard is it to type "su -" and 
enter a password?
