I have a client that uses it... She tells me there's a killer lag
between requesting a page and actually getting. I haven't a clue if
it's the speed of light limit or hardware problems t Huges.

Based on what I think the radius of a geosynchronous orbit is, the speed of light lag up and down two ways should be a little under 1/2 second.
Actually, I'm fairly certain its even significantly less than that.
