Didn't I say I was using it with Mandrake 8.2 and 9.0?  Last I looked that
qualifies as Linux :-).

Under Mandrake 9.0, the appropriate ieee1394 modules are loaded
automatically including spb2 which is needed for the automatic device
selection.  In fact, the mdk9.9 installation routines found the FireWire
disk before it found the SCSI hard drive, assigning it as /dev/sda which
wasn't exactly what I had in mind.  I turned the drive off during
installation, then after everything was installed and booted normally, I
turned the drive back on, and mounted it.  I haven't tried rebooting the
system with the external drive on.
