OK, that helped.  My kmailrc file looked like yours, except that Kmail had 
recorded the contentsA=xxxxxxxxxxx fileds as contentsA=<xxxxxxxx>.  Once I 
removed the hickeys, the rules worked as desired.

Thanks much.  I would have been stumbling around in the dark.
