xfsdump/xfsrestore was causing the laptop to lockup, so i ended up just tarring up all of / and scp'ing to another box while i repartitioned & installed win2k.
The problem right now is that xfs isn't listening on unix socket 7100 when run from /etc/init.d/xfs. As a result all of X tanks. It looks like /tmp/.font-unix just never gets setup with the socket. However, if i simply run 'xfs' as root, then i can start X. So i'm guessing that somehow permissions/ownership somewhere got wrecked but i can't figure out where.
Any suggestions on where to start?
