You also need to verify that
1. Your system BIOS is actually enabling your total amount of memory.
2. Your motherboard supports that amount.
3. You don't have any bad memory that's being disabled. That means both
system memory and video memory.
Also what's the output of dmesg, & cat /proc/meminfo?
