I read the patent. Look like it does pretty much cover a lot of services out there. Kurt, you been on line long enough to be familiar with FIDOnet? A seperate application(door) loaded onto a bbs and serving the early relative of email all across the US and farther? With some major servers located at universities/corps and larger BBS's as hubs and then smaller BBS's transfering to each other to pass and collect messsages from source to hubs. FIDOnet started in 1984 and BBs's around 77 so if FIDO does not fit that description I'm sure some BBS software had auto update features at least to some extent. >SCO at it again (picked up from another mailing list): > >> Hi, >> >> I've just received this URL which to me (IANAL of-course) looks like >> targetting Redhat's up2date service. >> >> >http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u >=/netahtml/srchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=6529784.WKU.&OS=PN/6529784&RS=PN/6529784 > >> >> Am I wrong? it's owned by our dear "friends" - formerly Caldera, now SCO... > >Kurt >-- >An effective way to deal with predators is to taste terrible. _______________________________________________ Linux-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe/Suspend/Etc -> http://www.linux-sxs.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-users
