I think it is a bug in Kmail itself. I've seen this for some time now, from a SuSE 8.0 install. If I exit Kmail when I see the "No Subject" pop up, then re-open Kmail it will be back to the real subject with no problems (and no new "No Subject"s popping up). As best I can tell this is triggered by deleting a file with a certain type of attachment (but I haven't isolated which one or combination). The trashed headers appear on the next message selected. It doesn't occur often enough that I've spent much time tracking it, but I ran into it again this morning. One additional anomaly from Kmail that may be related (seems to be) is that previously read messages seem to be marked as un-read when the crash due to this problem occurs.
