Hi Iraj,

Take a look at /etc/group, specifically what groups root is in. I can't
recall which group it is (possible sys) but one of them allows access to
the sound daemon by mortal users. Try adding your user to a group and
then check to see if sound works. Sorry I can't be more specific but the
only system here running Red Hat 9 at the moment is a server with no
sound card or XFree86 installed.
