Just downloaded an xft-enabled binary of MozillaFirebird 0.6.1+, and the fonts are truly beautiful. In fact, the fonts are better than on IE or Mozilla on W2k in a side-by-side comparison (and the W2k box has better video hardware to its advantage). Less jaggies, smoother.
This is progress!
All Redhat Mozilla RPMs since RH8 have xft enabled too.
