I had undefined macro errors until I put the above into my environment don't know if it's your problem though but it can't find a macro it may not know where to look

export ACLOCAL_FLAGS="-I /usr/share/aclocal"
since I don't have a /usr/local/share/aclocal on this RH9 box. But I still get the same error.
Any other ideas?
