A server that plugs into a 3u or 4u rack chassis (perhaps even 2u) allowing very high numbers of servers in a rack. The term ``blade'' has been pretty common with routers and modem racks where it refers to devices that plug into a large chassis, sharing common power supplies and backplanes.
