Well, we have a new linux user subscribed to the user list here, I did it for him, and booked marked the steps and gave a short tour. Was going to remove the extra 7 virtual screens, but I think he finally got it and told me to leave them alone, <g>. Got him up and running very smoothly. Wine is installed and updated to the latest stable. Notepad runs like a linux app, and acad lite 98 runs very nice from command line, but created a desktop icon shortcut, it will try to start, but quits. While there are only a couple of winders apps to run, acad lite and some games, wine seems ok, but acad does gp faults very easily. I have set it up with winesetuptk and put the req directories in his $HOME dir. Just might need some tweaking here, as this is my 1st time to do wine. Outlook did come up, but did not like its own *.pst files.
Removed his 96 m memory & put in 256 m, he could not believe how much nicer his system performed. He seems to be pleased, of course, he will be more so when it never goes down, <g>. Does any one have a recommendation for a good cad program that will read in/out acad files. Since he paid over $400 for the lite version, he opposed to paying again. Oh, excuse my manners, my new user's name is Joe Tom Hutchison. He may sen a post sooner or later. cheers -- Rick Sivernell Dallas, Texas 75287 972 306-2296 [EMAIL PROTECTED] Gentoo Linux Registered Linux User .~. / v \ /( _ )\ ^ ^ In Linux we trust! _______________________________________________ Linux-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe/Suspend/Etc -> http://smtp.linux-sxs.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-users
