Maybe we should start a "what comes broken" in various distros. I got
RH 7.1 because it was preinstalled, but I am not very happy with it.
A broken version of perl was installed (this was discussed on the
perl newsgroup, so I knew about it). I compiled some code that
segfaulted, and when I sent it to the author, he replied :
"No, it means RedHat gave you a broken compiler. All other Linux
distributors use _stable_ versions of gcc - RedHat picked an unstable
version for reasons that no-one else can figure out. Sorry :("
which fits RH's reputation of being sloppy with their distro choices.
If I wanted broken software I'd run Windoze... 8-)
Sigh. I so prefer Caldera - if they would just fix the licensing.
