2) I don't know whether this has anything to do with your 2.4.6 problem but I 
just spent 3 days trying to get it to compile.  It is very sensitive to the 
options you choose and it can get unresolved refs very easily.  I must have 
compiled at least 20 times and I finally re-downloaded everything and started 
from scratch.   That was a charmer.  And I don't even know what I changed 
that fixed it.
