My onboard sound modprobes just fine using the cmpci kernel driver. I was having something in the way of sound problems using kde2.2beta1 (this is slackware 8.0 btw) but Myles suggested that a later version of kde might fix it (the July 27th cvs in his case IIRC). My sound works fine using the play command and also in any non-kde applications (eg. xmms, realplayer, play, etc.). I've screencap'd all error message dialogs and uploaded them to http://members.home.net/davidaikema/. The main error seems to be something along the lines of unix_connect: can't connect to server (unix:/tmp/mcop/mcop-david/david_aikema-1872-3b7e0875), a message that repeats itself a number of times.
