I just finished putting up 4.1 on my LFS platform with no problems. The
only problem I've had (2-3 months use) is 2-3 times X has died taking XFCE
and everything with it; no problem with restart.
Go to the XFree download site and get all the binaries for GLIBC 2.2 (or
whatever level you have) then follow the very simple instructions on the
site. It's only about a 5 minute operation, once the downloads are
complete. I'm still using my XF86Config-4 file from 4.0.1 days.
The only gotcha may be if you have an exotic Video card.
Good luck.
