I would also 100% recommend code crusader (details on the SxS)
No doubt Wide is ok too, the reason why I absolutely LUV jcc (code crusader)
is it is desktop agnostic. It doesn't rely on gnome kde or any other widget
set or api to do it's thing the ide of jcc understands java fortran c and c++
without fuss. It _also_ understands all about drag 'n drop, cut 'n paste from
'other' screens and the godawful nightmare of makefiles.
To make it powerful, you need to marry it to forms-designer (also on the
SxS), fdesign is a brilliantly simple wyswig dialog editor that creates your
display widgets there and then and provides a single C source file output
with (unusual for Linux) readable documentation
Kdevelop is the killer app for Linux, it has made everything but KDE the
also-rans in Linux desk devel. Nothing else (certainly not Gnome) can compete
with this powerful tool.
The big problem with Kdevelop is that it is too clever by half. It suffers
from having 99% bloatware in source and directories. I get very confused with
the 100's of extra files I never asked for, that it generates. If you want a
true, what you do is what you get, ide , try code crusader.
