Since 5.30 am this morning I have listened/watched to what happened in the US.
I thought that i would get online and offer my sympathies to the citizens of
that country and tell you what I thought. However something stopped me as I
thought what I am seeing and hearing is the first knee jerk reaction of a
peoples that are in shock.
I also live in a complacent country/society that is far away from all those
clowns, idiots, bombers etc, that exist in other countries. We as a nation are
rather insignificant on the world scene, anything that happened here would
have little effect on world polotics, but the US, or GB, Russia thats
different.
I have read that which has been written by some users of this list and I hope
that far more sanity will prevail with time. Ther are no winners in this type
of terrorist attack anymore than all Christains are alike, are all muslims
alike. In the middle ages there were some atrocious acts by so called pious
christians against those that held slightly differing beliefs.
You world may now in the light of what has happened stop and think why
Australia has this 'Boat Peoples' problem. One must remembere they are _NOT_
refugees, they have money and pay their way to illegally force their way into
this country. The ratio of men to women and children in the groups is about
10-15 to 1, there were 400 men in that contraversial group.
Just for your information too, we have the biggest Muslim nation sitting just
above us 280Mill to our 21mill, but so far the relations have been cordial.
There have been incidents between Indonesia and Australia, but more
internally than externally, we really do not want to annoy them either.
Wea also have a problem here with some lebanese gangs in Sydney, that do not
like being referred to as lebanese, btw they are shi'ite Muslims.
I grew up in the beggining of WW11, in London and experienced first hand
bombing, aand being bombed out when they flattened Liverpoool, where I had
been sent to get me out of the so called 'terror bombing' 1940 style. I saw
Belsen Belsen and Dachau in 1951. I also had a Stepfather here in Australia
that was a prisoner of the Japs, Burma Road and Changi for 4 years. Someone
said that the Japs at least targetted military and not civilians. Whoever it
was was dead wrong, they did whatever they liked (Rape of Nanking).
So for many a year this sort of thing has taken place but not with the
terrible effect and immediacy that the new media can give it. It is
unfortunate that the leader of the world politically, also becomes the main
target of 'HATE' that the disaffected, twisted leadership use to cover their
shortcomings. In hindsight this has all been predicated and all that was
necessary was for them to wait till the US lowered its guard: became somewhat
complacent. Dare I say thank god that they didn't use biological weapons as
well;; This time!
We see many movies whereby we become innured to the sort of thing that we saw
today. I am sure that many who may have switched on at the crutial time would
be forgiven if they thought they were watching such a movie, I did.
I have fought guerillas and been in wars as many have. I have heard of the
war to end all wars, yet never lived in a time without one. I would like to
say lets STOP this madness, wipe it from the face of the earth, but thats a
pipe dream so much retoric. So long as there remains a man or woman on this
earth who is dissatisfied with their lot and is jealous of his/her neighbour.
Again I tender my sincere condolences; I believe there could be Aussies in
that holacaust. I am also firm in the belief that many of the world
intelligence services and undercover organisations in their bumbling bring
about more of what we see the end results of than polotics does.
