check out /etc/cron.daily/aaa_base_updatedb to see why/how your locate 
database is maintained. you can tweak how it works. basically, you're getting 
a "cached" value from the prior update of the database...

myself, I modified that script to unmount anything I didn't want indexed, 
then it updates the db, then it remounts whatever was mounted
