Yes, life, as normal as possible, must go on. To let these terrorist attacks
stop the US and other nations in their tracks would only give them a victory.
Yes, we mourn the loss of lives and the senseless destruction of property,
but we must go on with our lives. If you want to help, give blood(if you
can), donate money to a legitimate charity(Red Cross) to be used for the
victims of this tragedy, put a flag up(whatever your national flag is) to
show support for your government. I bought 2 flags to put on the pillars of
my porch. When i hear stories in the news about the volunteers that showed
up at the site of the WTC shortly after the attack just wanting to help in
any way possible. I heard of a story of a construction worker that was
nearby that walked off the job to help rescue people and help with the
wounded. He was interviewed by a TV reporter and he said that he saw combat
in Vietnam, but this was worse than anything he saw there. I heard that on
the flight that crashed in PA, that one person called a loved one to say
goodbye and stated that there were more of us than there were of the
terrorists and they wouldn't go down quietly. I heard(unsubstantiated) that
on one of the recorders in the cockpit that it sounds like a fight had
ensued. Quite possibly the passengers were trying to take back control of
the aircraft and for some unknown reason it went down. Maybe we will never
know exactly what happened on that flight in the final minutes. These people
are the real heros. I'm sure that there will be other stories in the news
like this as time goes on. The US has banded together as one nation with one
goal in mind: Justice. This is the reason that I'm proud to be an American.
I'm also proud to see countless other nations backing the US in it's endeavor
to bring the terrorists to justice and wanting to help with the cleanup in
any way possible. I'm going outside in a few minutes to hang those flags
with pride.
God Bless America
Jim
