Well yeah....   take this as the only time in my life I've made a mistake  
(yeah sure)  but I was looking around my system trying to figure out why my 
disk usage had gone up significantly and /proc was reported as being very 
large, which caused me to investigate.   I was ready to jump on anything that 
might have been the cause...

Found that the problem was a Kmail bug.
