Sorry for the delay in posting, but I finally got around to resubscribing after the linux.nf crash. Good to hear it's got a robust piece of hardware runnning it. I was reading the list from the archives on the website and wanted to respond to this topic.
I've also searched for a conversion utility but have found naught. The best solution I've seen for netfilter control is a gui frontend called "fwbuilder". IMHO, this thing is the cat's ass. Not nearly a high level point of view as a product called "Solsoft", but keeps a person out of the trenches if one so desires. I completed configuring a firewall that permits a small lan to connect to the internet and allows two and only two wirelessly connected clients to access a W2K server as well as the internet. This would have been extremely painful to gen up a hand built script (painful for me at least). http://fwbuilder.sourceforge.net. If you've used the CheckPoint FW-1 front-end you'll be very comfortable with this. Otherwise the tutorial provided gets a person going with a basic configuration. Downside. For some, I suppose being X based might a show stopper, but for me personallly are the dependencies of some Ximian modified gnome libraries. Redhat is relatively easy to configure for this app, big surprise eh? Others, YMMV. _______________________________________________ Linux-users mailing list Archives, Digests, etc at http://linux.nf/mailman/listinfo/linux-users
