If you're going to MySQL, the easiest way is to get a plugin called MyAccess. It's available in the downloads section of http://www.mysql.com . It's nagware, but very easy. I use it to allow my power-user types to publish their own databases to our MySQL server. If they can use Access, they can use MyAccess. It's really easy.
