I not sure about that floppy error. I haven't seen one like that before. But the cdrom sounds like the old automount is mounting it up when you put the disk in and then it is also trying to mount it when you click the cdrom icon. Try right clicking it and opening it that way or opening Konqueror and browsing to it through there.
