I assume you're using dhcp.  Does it complain?  Does ifconfig show anything
reasonable?

Anyone have any details on what Windoze-ized dhcp looks like?  The first
time I heard about this was just today, also.

I expect there will be hacks to get this to work again, here's an easy one
that may work:

1) Hook up to your ISP using Windows.  Look at the IP assigned (ipconfig
from the command line for NT and 2k - 95/98 has something similar but
slightly different).

2) Hook up to your ISP using Linux.  Use ifconfig to tell Linux to use the
same IP.

Note, this is most likely to work if you can just pull the ethernet cable
out of Win and plug it into Linux - no chance for Win to release the IP or
the ISP to notice it is down.  If you're dual booting, pull the cable before
you shut down Win.  Perhaps you can look at lease times (/all to ipconfig)
to see how much time you have.

I assume this isn't a dial-up connection - that's unlikely to be dhcp.
