i know. just wanted to clarify that point.

yep. /etc/rc.config is still there. I'm learned to work around it.

as it should be. the LFS principle is 'here's a working linux box. now YOU 
get to decide what to make of it". from there you can turn it into a server, 
or a workstation or whatever.
 the multiple lists are because of this very principle. one list is for the 
base system, another is for "where do I go from the base system" another is 
for automating the base system instlalation..
