Just taking a guess. This sort of thing is almost always permissions related. So, I would check permissions on your /dev/dsp, or whatever device Suse uses for sound and for /dev/mixer. Also, maybe there is a directory or file in your user directory realplayer is trying to use on which root has messed up the permissions. AND, I would try starting realplay from the command line.
