Here's a Tip that'll help people using KMS and Compiz I was really quite disappointed in the performance of my Radeon HD 5770 on the open drivers (if you are running ArchLinux and want to try the bleeding edge radeon driver give me a yell) running Compiz Opening the benchmark applet in Compiz showed that the FPS was ~30 (visually I could see this with the desktop cube transition wasn't smooth) , upon opening the Compiz setting I found that vsync was on, you're probably going to say "you want vsync!" well it would seem that KMS and the Compiz conflict with their vsync and sync twice (this is my assumption anyway), turning off vsync in Compiz bought up my FPS to ~60
