Probably, - a wise move..
The unity that shipped in the netbook remix of 10.10 is a bit of a pain
to use - and
was "horrible".

Unity is still young software, and another 6 months of maturing will
take it a long way
forward. From a pragmatic point of view, it is wise to hold off the
switch to Unity for this reason alone.

I have been disappointed with the quality of the online reviews.
Some of them are professional (ish) journalist like people, who are paid
on the hit count - of how
many browsers go to their page. Thus, it makes far more sense to report
on the "misfeatures"
and all the bad things in an endeavour to increase the readership count.

We saw a similar fiasco (but on a larger scale) over the iphone 4 and
antennagate.
Many of those who panned the device were (in my view) just after readers..

Yes, unity has glitches - it sat there for 30 seconds this morning doing
nothing - would not come back from
screen saver. and then it did. I have seen similar (but shorter) pauses
at other times..

The question that is paramount in this whole discussion of Unity/Gnome
==> Explain to my why Ubuntu went to Unity - what drove this choice?

There can only be one answer - Ubuntu had reasonable grounds to think
they could do better than Gnome.
I have evidence of many man weeks of using unity - Unity is an improvement..
With the recent tools - gunity - indicator-workspaces,
indicator-multiload and learning the key sequences,
I am would not go back..

Sheesh - enough ranting.

Derek.
